Leisure Time

Interview with Tim

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Tim: They had dominoes, cards. There was a TV with cable but we most always had to watch what the guards wanted to watch. They also brought books around every two weeks.

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Tim: It was pretty regular. Never any fights over things like that.

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Tim: No, not really. You could exercise, you just couldn't get caught.

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Tim: They had that rec yard open from about 8 am to 5 pm every day. It was like a little stone cage. Nothing to do.

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Tim: They was actually better than a lot of the churches that I've been to on the outside. They had them in a little room off to side of the pod.
