Leisure Time

Interview with Chuck

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Chuck: TV, card games, board games, books, and a radio if you had the commisary money to spend on it.

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Chuck: There was a little competition for the tv and certain books. It was pretty easy to find a game to play though.

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Chuck: Honestly in jail I didn't do a whole lot. I spent most of my time laying in bed either reading or watching the tv.

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Chuck: The first two weeks I was in jail we didn't go outside. After that I remember going outside 3 times before I was released.

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Chuck: I can't really remember. They might have but if they did it wasn't something I was interested in. The days all blend together so it's hard to pinpoint what day of the week it is.
