Medications

Interview with Travis and Grant

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Travis: No. I was prescribed Concerta 36mg and 10mg Methylphenidate tablets twice a day outside. I had three psych visits and talked to the nurse and everyone said it was not on their 'corollary'. Bupropion was not either.
Grant: yes you could fill out a medical slip any time

JM: How did you get your medications?
Travis: I almost never got the medication, however if I did then if there was pod-time that day you would get it during pod-time otherwise a nurse and an officer would come around to every cell to give them.
Grant: you would be brought your meds by a mobile pill nurse or by going to see the doctor for certain types

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Travis: One person had hundreds of 'benadryl' pills saved up in their room, he was caught and they would not let him out for meals or pod-time for several days. For alcohol, the alcohol was commonly thrown out, I think usually it was not recorded. One time someone was allowed to keep it.
Grant: drug contraband resulted in new charge and more time ,even if suspected to be involved would get you moved to another housing
