Interview with Carol

JM: How many different blocks were there?
Carol: there was only one for the women we were crammed we were 3 to a cell in J pod

JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they?
Carol: they had several for the men they were a, b, c, d, e, f etc

JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks?
Carol: I think the men were housed according to their charges.. violent... non violent etc. I know if there were any women who may have been a serious threat to other inmates they were kept in medical.. or if they were suicidal.

JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks?
Carol: The nicest thing was probably getting to go outside on the rec yard (still enclosed) but you get fresh air. we could check out books. all the blocks were exactly the same. we also didnt have enough tables because there was so many women and we would have to take out 3 extra tables to eat on. also since our block was packed we would only get half of our free time.
