Inmates

Interview with Terri

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Terri: In a way yes. All of the woman in that pod had been there a while, there fore had there set ways and did not try to extend kindness to newcomers that they did not expect to be there long. So I pretty much kept to my bunk.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Terri: When and which shower to use, where to sit at meal time, who to ask any type of question because I was very confused and unfamiliar with how things worked, and what lines on the floor I could or could not cross. Who to talk to about using the phone. Things of that nature.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Terri: In this Pod there were no cell mates. I believe most of the jail was like this. They had more of a dormatory style, in which several bunk beds were in a general area, with in the same room as the commons, deputies desk, bathrooms, and showers.
