Good Behavior

Interview with Jonathan and Mike

JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior?
Jonathan: Yes. I got out of Dedham 15 days early. 10 days for the Dedham Alternative Center, 5 days that were credited from Plymouth.
Mike: Yes I got off about a month early based on good behavior.

JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior?
Jonathan: 10 days per month is the maximum amount you can get, but it isn't for good behavior. You have to participate in programs that are offered by the jail, like A.A, N.A, culinary classes, etc.
Mike: I think it was raised to 10 or 11 days a month at the end of my sentence.

JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior?
Jonathan: I never saw anyone lose their time off. Once the good time is on the books, it can't be taken away without an extensive process that I believe has to go to some part of the government. So once good time is earned, it's there. But if you miss classes, you won't be given the good time.
Mike: You need to avoid fights and reprimands, and get into a program or a work unit to get the most good time. No one looses good time for good behavior but you don't get much good time unless you get into a program.
