Visitor Policy

Interview with Harry and Arnold

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Harry: You could receive visitors basically once a week. But due to how far I was from home, I did not get many.
Arnold: The policy was about once a week, but since my family lived two hours away, I only got a few visits.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Harry: Yes it could be lengthy at times. It would of course depend on how many people were there for visits. As well as how fast the guards wanted to process the people through.
Arnold: From what I remember it was not to bad of a lengthy process. They had to show ID and get searched for contraband and had to go through a metal detector.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Harry: It was an open area with chairs. You sat across from your visitor and were allowed contact when they first came in, but when you both were seated, you could not at any time touch the other person. There were guards constantly around you to make sure that this rule was enforced.
Arnold: The visiting environment was okay I guess. It was contact visits which meant you could hug you visitor when they first came. The visiting room layout was basically a bunch of chairs set up across from each other. But they did have guards sitting close by to keep an eye on what was going on.
