Visitor Policy

Interview with Lou and Cindy

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Lou: Visitation days were twice a week.
Cindy: Three times a week, and for me that was a lot. We got to spend an hour or so together.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Lou: It takes a good hour to check in.
Cindy: As far as I know all they had to do was show up with their drivers' license, it was the inmate that put them on the visitors list.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Lou: It's actually a glass partition with a seat on either side and you got them little phones you pick up and talk that way.
Cindy: Sometimes there's a little room where it's a private conversation between the two people, with glass on all sides, and a phone that connects the two of you. You can hear each other and see each other through the glass. Or you're with the other visitors who sit on the sides of a half circle, with partitions inbetween the different visitors so you don't have to see the other inmates as you visit your family.
