Visitor Policy

Interview with Dorothy

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Dorothy: You can have visitors 3 times a week on Tuesday and Wednesdays and Sundays, but you can only have a visit from the same person once every 7 days. So if something comes up and the person that is visiting you cannot come on the day they have to wait until the 7 days passes before they can come again. It is only at certain times as well.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Dorothy: Yes, sometimes my family would have to wait for an hour or so to see me and we did not have that many female inmates.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Dorothy: It was pretty sad. You cannot have any contact visits and the visit is only 15 minutes and you have to share the room with several other people so the noise level is pretty intense. It was hard to focus on your own conversations when everyone else was yelling at the top of their lungs to be heard.
