Inmates

Interview with Rhea

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Rhea: I fortunately was friends with a girl who was in jail too, so that made it much easier to become comfortable being in jail. It wasnt difficult for me to get along with the other inmates either.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Rhea: I stayed with my own little group of friends that I had made in jail to avoid fights with other inmates. I am an easy person to get along with so it wasnt hard anyways to get along. I was nice to everyone in jail so that helped me to avoid fights as well.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Rhea: I was friends with a girl that was in jail. The lt. let me be her cellmate when I was moved to population. I dont think that they typically let you choose your cellmate, however due to my situation and some things that happened due to my heroin detox, I was allowed to choose my cellmate
