JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Rose: none if you had money on your books you could
puchase pencils and paper once a week and stamps
and envelopes. otherwise it was a small liabrary
cart once a week you could have two books, no
facilities though. they did have loud tv on from
8am to 10pm. awfull
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Rose: the entertainment? if you call a couple of tv
channels entertainment each pod had there own
schedule for the tv mostly stupid talk shows or
the same movies over and over or if you like
reality tv shows or jerry springer crap I would
do exercizes a few hours a day just so i could
walk from sleeping and sitting on metal
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Rose: I worked out arobics for at least an hour every
day with my ear plugs in and didnt eat any of the
white bread they give you and i still gained 38
pounds and could barely see form the lights being
on from 5am to 10pm
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Rose: you were suppose to get one hour five days a week
by law but we would be lucky to go outside three
times a week for a full hour. and you could walk
in a box about 20 square ft you could do what
ever you could think of on the concrete
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Rose: the chaplain came by a few times a week for a
prayer or communion she was very nice always
happy to see her and she would bring religous
library once a week also
