Pre-sentencing

Interview with Richard

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Richard: i plead not guilty to the charges and was offered a plea bargin for 3 years probation so i took that offer i only spent one night in jail when i was first charged for the crime and was out on bond the next day and then i had to go to court like once a month for about 4 months getting it continued and taking drug test untill i was offered a plea

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Richard: they questioned me at my home first and then just issued a warrent i had no idea until i was ridding with some friends in clinton arkansas and we got pulled over and i had 8 felony warrents out for my arrest so that was when i was arrested the first time for the charge

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Richard: slow spend all day in there waiting on them to finaally call your case and good luck talking to the "public pretender" i had bev claunch i could have done better representing my self and i was never shown my motion for discovery like i was told that she filed for

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Richard: i was origanally charged with breaking and entering a class d felony and 7 class a misdemeanor theft of property
