JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process: Max: I was accused of committing a crime and taken to
jail. I bailed out but eventually plead guilty
and was sentenced to one year in Mendocino
County Jail.
JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested. Max: No, they came to my work. They were actually
pretty cool about it. They came into my place
of work and didn't cuff me or anything like
that. They drove away with me sitting in the
front seat, and then when we got out of view of
my work, they stopped the car, cuffed me and put
me in the back. Of course, the people at my
work knew I was being taken away by the police
so it couldn't be a good thing, but I thought it
was nice that the police tried to be decent.
JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall. Max: One thing that really bothered me was that with
Mendocino County Jail, when they take you to
court, they take all different kinds of inmates
together. Mine was a sex offense, so I was in
Protective Custody at the jail because general
population is pretty abusive to sex offenders.
So I was sitting with general population inmates
and had a verbal altercation with one.
JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of? Max: I was charged with a sexual charge with a
minor. My ex wife said my daughter saw a
pornographic film while she was visiting me.
Even though it wasn't mine, she was in my care
when she saw it and I plead guilty so my
daughter wouldn't have to go through the process
of a trial.
