Visitor Policy

Interview with Max

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Max: Once a week for thirty minutes at a time. Lawyers can come anytime and the jail has to let you have a confidential conversation with them in a room without listening devices. That's the law.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Max: They have to make an appointment prior to coming to see you. Once they are there, they have to check in and show ID. They can't be on your list of people you can't have contact with.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Max: A long skinny room with 5 or 6 booths. Plexiglass separates visitors from inmates, so obviously there is no physical contact. You have phones to talk into so you don't have to try to yell through the plexiglass. There is a big one way mirror/window behind the inmates so the officers can see everything that is happening during visitation. Sometimes girls flash their boyfriends and they get in trouble for that.
