Interview with Howard
JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Howard: The thing I tried to do is try to keep a low
profile. Kept to myself. I don't think I
interacted with anybody.
JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Howard: I don't need to know about you and you don't need
to know about me. That's the basic attitude to
have. I think if you talk you're just going to
instigate things. Why chance it? Be cordial. If
you're asked something answer it. But don't piss
anybody off.
JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Howard: No they don't let you choose. They tell you where
to go and what to do.
