Interview with Rick

JM: How many different blocks were there?
Rick: The were cellblocks. The north and east were the living units. West and south blocks were reception and death row.

JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they?
Rick: In the north block they called the wings Alpine, Badger, Donner and Carson after the passes.

JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks?
Rick: Anyone over ten years they put you right in Carson because they figure you have an attitude like you don't give a shit. Everybody else went to Alpine or Badger. Donner was the hole.

JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks?
Rick: Nicest thing was that after about 10pm the convicts would take charge and we shut down and stop yelling so people could go to sleep. If you didn't submit then the next morning you get beat up. The worst thing is that it's one of the filthest prisons I've ever been in.
