JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications? John: Essentially yes . I had to take diabetes meds and
anti-biotics for a diabetically-worsened toe
wound/infection .
I did receive - pretty much always , anyway -
those meds daily and did get out of the block most
days to go up to the nurse's station maybe 100
yards away (I didn't mention that before when I
mentioned being in , essentially , the block 24/7
but it's come up here .) t get a new
bandage/whatever on my infected toe .
By the end of the main 3ish wks , my toe had maybe
40% healed it has never been that much healed
since then at least the receiving treatment and
the fact that , quite frankly , we were in that
block essentially 24/7 with all of us being left
idle allowed me to lie down and rest and elevate
my bad foot .
JM: How did you get your medications? John: They would bring them to the door , as I said ,
maybe you'd go slightly outside the door , or stay
inside the threshold .
A few times I received " lesser " bandagng just
outside the door .
When I went to the nurse's station I would
sometimes wait before/after my treatment in the
office proper or sometimes in either of two
holding cells within the nurses' .
You're in jail , dude !
A lot of cons were on meds of one stripe or
another . At one point , the thought of taking
psych meds was brought up to me , I said that I
did not want them and had had bad experiences
w/psych meds in the past thankfully they didn't
pursue it after that .
JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this? John: Never witnessed any .
