JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Brandon: There was a courtyard with a basketball court and a
handball court. There were 4 TV's in each building,
one for each race. There was also a pretty decent
size library, where you could check out as many
books as you want. A lot of guys played dominos and
cards too.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Brandon: There were 4 Tv's, and sometimes there would be
arguments over what to watch, but not very often.
What was funny to me was there would be guys
watching COPS and first 48 a lot. Kind of ironic
right? Guess maybe they were hoping to see
themselves or something. I never watched much TV.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Brandon: I don't really stay in shape when I'm not in jail,
but jail makes it worse because the food is crap and
most things on commissary are junk food.
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Brandon: Any time there was "free time" you could go outside
on the courtyard. I played basketball sometimes. If
you couldn't go outside you could always exercise in
your room.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Brandon: Yes, they were held in an auditorium type room and
they were just like going to a church on the
outside.
