Leisure Time

Interview with Hugh

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Hugh: They have games, cable TV, chores for you to do. They have pull up bars and other exercise equipment.

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Hugh: The TV was a little fight, but the board games were not in high demand. They have everything as far as board games. They have flat screen tv with cable.

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Hugh: No, not at all.

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Hugh: Once a day, except on the weekends. Its an hour a day, every weekday. On the weekends the "stripers" get to go outside. They are the inmates that leave the jail to do roadside work etc. They get 3 hours a day on the weekends.

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Hugh: Yes. They offer Jehovah's Witness or Baptist services on Sundays. They have a cell for people who are into the Lord and can't be around the other people.
