Visitor Policy

Interview with JD

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
JD: Once a week. Visitor days were dependent on the first letter of one's last name. A-J would be held on Wednesday, K-S was on Thursday, and the remainder was allowed visitation on Fridays.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
JD: Relatively not, visitors would come on the assigned day during an alloted time period. If there were alot of visitors then they would have to wait for an opening in the visitor area to open up.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
JD: Each block had a visiting area. It consisted of a row of ten telephones whith ten seats. The inmnate side was separated from the visitor side by thick sound proof glass. The visitor side of the glass had two telephones so that two visitors could talk to one inmate simultaneously. Visiting time was limited to 10-15 minutes per inmate.
