JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications? Ron: Not always. In order to get prescription meds you
had to submit a request (usually several) to see
either the psych or the doctor depending on what
you needed. Both of these guys only worked like 2
days a week. Also many prescriptions are banned
for one reason or another. Scott: I don't take medication but the nursing staff came
around twice per day to deliver meds. Michael: I didn't need any medications but i am sure they
would have given anybody what they needed in a
supervised way. Bruce: no because the inmates abuse it
JM: How did you get your medications? Ron: I wasnt on any but if you were there was a med
cart that came around twice a day I think. Scott: Nursing gave medicines through the open door
compartment in each cell pod. they watched as you
took in and swallowed you medication. Most people
didn't swallow and sold there meds for profit. Michael: I didn't need any medication but if i had needed
any i am sure they would have a guard bring it to
you or you would go to see nurse or a nurse would
come to your cell. Bruce: yes but i would take days to hear back about
headachs and the is no point unless you might die
JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this? Ron: Solitary confinement. It's a tiny cell maybe 5
feet wide by 9 feet long. Subtract space for a
toilet/sink and a bed and you have almost no room.
While in solitary you get basically nothing.
Commissary items are heavily restricted and you
get only 2 or 3 showers a week. Other than
leaving your cell to shower you are not allowed
out period. No gym, no tv, no dayroom, nothing. Scott: Never witnessed abuse of drugs but you were
immediately sent to solitary if it happened. Guys
sold medication for commissary items Michael: No i never witnessed the abuse of drugs and would
not know what type of punishment someone having
drugs in jail would receive. Bruce: you would go to seg and depending on what you did it
vares on how many dyas you will be in there
