JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process: Sam: There was no pre-sentencing process in this case. Although my
charge was simply a traffic ticket, the means the cop went through
to pull me over, give me a bogus ticket, and what I experienced in
the jail itself, is a bit more than one committing a traffic violation,
or anyone else lodged in a county jail deserves to experience.
JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested. Sam: I had been lodged in another jail on a different charge, and was
transported to the Allegan jail when my time was done at the
other jail. However, when the officer had pulled me over in
Allegan, resulting in a traffic ticket for speeding 5 mph over the
speed limit, that eventually resulted in a bench warrant, the cop
recklessly played a dangerous game of chicken with me, just to
pull me over to give me an unfair speeding ticket of traveling 5
mph over the speed limit.
JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall. Sam: The judge resided in a small dark room located in the jail. It was a
real simple process. The Judge asked me if I could pay my ticket, I
said no. He asked if anyone will pay my ticket for me, I said no. He
sentenced me to somewhere around 18 days or pay my ticket, a pay
or stay. I stayed for my sentence, but now the county still wants me
to pay the ticket. This is not fair and doesn't make any sense.
JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of? Sam: Speeding 5 MPH over the speed limit
