Meals

Interview with Eduardo

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Eduardo: 3 meals per day with snack purchase at night

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Eduardo: very poor quality food, poorly cooked, cold, watered down.Im sure most lost weight during their stay as I did. Food was one of the only diversions so everyone looked forward to meals and complained afterwards. Nothing got thrown out. Usually someone would request to eat what was left on plates

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Eduardo: No. there were no favorites or special meals. We wondered just how poor the meals would be presented to us

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Eduardo: Snacks were expensive, but part of the prison bartering system as there were no cigerettes allowed. I think stationary, stamps, and stuff was also available for purchase. Im not sure how the prisoners got new underwear or socks
