Interview with Nicole, Toby, Donald, Manuel, Jimmie, Jack, David, Rhonda, Paul, Mike, Leo and Liz
JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail? Nicole: it's a horrible place to be... bond them out
immediately. Toby: Do a lot of reading and try to learn as much as
possible while you are there. Do not allow the
time to be completely wasted... Work on self
improvement and do not get caught up in the
jail/prison mentality. Laugh at what you can,
don't let them hear you crying and stand your
ground when the time comes. If you wimp out you
will wind up being somebody;s bitch in prison or
in the jail. Never snitch, never catch out or go
to PC because that reputation will stick with you
everywhere you go. I have seen it too many times. Donald: Please put money on thier books so they dont
have to eat that crap. The more they can buy the
better off they will be. Then visit every week.
It sucks Manuel: That it is not the worst jail around and respect will keep you
out of trouble all the way around with inmates and guards
being a trustee helps time go by faster Jimmie: Jail is not a fun place to be and being out you have
a better chance of getting a good plea deal or
fighting your case the public defenders are not very
good they are rookie lawyers Jack: The release time is very slow. The whole entire
jail staff is extremely slow. So be very
patience. Every thing that happens there happens
slow. Very very very very slow. Have alot of patience David: I would want anyone of my loved to no it sucks its jail no jail
is a nice place to be they all make me feel like a cash nmbr
and nothing more Rhonda: The hardest part is having so much time to think
about why you are there. It is lonely and you
don't get the proper treatment, but we honestly
had every opportunity to stay out but our
decesions landed us there. Paul: Let them know you can't call cell phones, worry about yourself,
and do something to better yourself Mike: Write very often, visit frequently, answer all
phone calls . The isolation and loneliness are
the things that begin to "fry" your brain. Set up
the commissary as soon as possible and the phone
account. Leo: just be there for them no matter what Liz: Just be patient and as supportive for them as
possible. If they are in there for long term put
money on their books and send letters or
pictures. They will need it.
JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them? Nicole: sleep tons. Toby: Basically the same thing I said in the previous
answer. Don't bitch out, don't snitch, don't try
to stand tall but at least stand... Work on self
education.. Learn new things, keep your brain
active and try to ignore the dumbasses that
surround you. The police and all those guards are
the enemy... Never volunteer information about
yourself or others ot the enemy... Period... They
are not your friends.... Donald: Eat a lot before going in. Then get as many
people you can to put money on your books. Its
easy to do but also costs to give you money.
Then pray. Manuel: Sign up for trustee so you get the good time , night trustee is
good if you want to sleep during the day and avoid everyone
kitchen trustee is good if you want to eat Jimmie: make sure that you have money on your books for
commissary and phone cards there is a lot of things
that you can buy to make your stay easier and more
comfortable and hearing your loved ones voice can
help you see the light at the end of the tunnel Jack: My advice would be is get it in your head you will
be there. Don't try and sleep your time away. Stay
bizzy reading writing playing games. What ever you
need to do David: My advice would be to mind yoyr bussiness and try to get
out as soonas you can do your time and get out leave that
jail house drama to the jail house dipshits. Rhonda: Stay to yourself, buy off canteen, tell your
family to come visit if possible and do the best
you can to sleep away your time. Paul: Stay calm get involved in as many programs as possible.
Respect others and the guards respect yourself and better
youself while you stay. Mike: Keep your head low, stay uninvolved as much as
possible. Minimalism is a good way. Seek out the
inmates that have acclimated and are not seeking
trouble. Find a stable group to interact within.
Go to church, it enlivens the spirit and is very
helpful during those moments when you feel all
alone. Leo: don't make friends Liz: Respect those around you. If you do not start
shit you will not have any problems. You have to
show respect to get respect. Stay in contact with
family and friends.
