Interview with Nicole, Toby, Donald, Manuel, Jimmie, Jack, David, Rhonda, Paul, Mike, Leo and Liz
JM: How often could you receive visitors? Nicole: 1 visitor every weekend. Toby: Once per week in jail and prison alike. Donald: During my stay I did not recieve any visitors.
You can get up to two visits a week. Manuel: You are allowed one visit a week unless you get approved for
a out of town visit Jimmie: you are allowed a 30 min. visit once a day on your
pods days only each pod has three days a week Jack: Monday Wednesday Friday and Sunday for the men
the opposite for the women. one a day David: I dont no never had a visitor when I,was locked up tulsa
county or anywhere Rhonda: 2 times a week Paul: Once a week. Mike: There were three visitation days per week, and
the visitation time was limited to 30 minutes per
session. Leo: on weekends Liz: I did not receive any visitors while I was there
but you had visitors once a week.
JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you? Nicole: no. Toby: It is always a little tedious especially for
family member having strangers in uniform wanting
to probe all areas. Donald: I didnt recieve visitors but I visited inmates
before. I wait was usually not that long. At
most you may have to wait 20 minutes Manuel: Yes it was a long wait and the guards are not very polite to the
visitors rather rude not everyone is a criminal they are not very
helpful Jimmie: yes it takes a long time for them to see you the
earlier they get there the quicker they will get in
and you only get one visit a day so if someone comes
to see you they may end up waiting for nothing Jack: My sister said it was. Then it was a very long wlk
to get to where i was. It would take from 30
minutes to a hour to get in David: I didnt have anybody visit me so its pointless for me to anser
but I have to type so many words so this is what im doing Rhonda: could be but not most often Paul: Yes very Mike: Yes, there were lengthy wait times. Especially
when the jail was understaffed. There were many
visitors that left out of frustration. But for
the most part 30-60 minutes on average wait time. Leo: yes Liz: They made sure that the visitor was dressed
appropriately and that they did not have a bad
criminal record.. They checked for contriban
before entry.
JM: What was the visiting environment like? Nicole: it's not bad if you get there at the right time. Toby: In county, it is done in a small booth behind a
glass. In prison, depending on your security
level (i.e. Maximum, Medium, Minimum) it is
either indoors with your hands visible on the
table under the watchful and prying eyes of the
hacks or out on a visiting yard pushing your kids
on a swingset wondering which perverted scumbag
is checking them out. Donald: The visiting enviroment was typical. You get to
sit and talk to someone over the phone. It was
all timed. Usually about 10 minutes at most. But
you can visit up to two times a week. Its not
the best but its not the worst either. I think
it is normal. Manuel: They was a small room like a closet with a glass window with a
phone so you talk in private and not be disturbed visits were
15 minuets usually there were a lot of people waiting for there
visit sometimes you could get lucky and have your visit during
count or something and get a longer visit Jimmie: It is thrugh a glass window with a phone the inmates
are in a small room big enough for a single chair
the visitor is in a larger room with dividers at the
windows where there may be four people having there
visits and young children are not allowed to visit
inmates Jack: The visiting environment was very un comfortable.
Uncomfortable chairs. You had to talk through a
phone and of course no contact. County Jail is a
lot like max security jail. very little
privileges. It was very cold and isolated. The
visits are almost not worth it. Dont know what
else to say. But it is nice to have visits David: Again I am just gona feel this question with something since
its mandatory I anser i did not have any visitors nore hae a
ever recieved visitors while locked up so I do not no how the
process was im sure it was a long drawn out process seems
to be consistent that way Paul: Not sure Mike: The visitation area was a 20 x 20' area with
seats facing a windowed area (much like a teller
booth at the bank). You only get to see your
visitor through thick paned glass with a speaker
built in to the glass. You must speak louder than
normal to accomodate the high noise area. Leo: alright no contact see family thru glass window Liz: The visiting environment was small but sounded
very busy on visiting day! Every one that had a
visitor was taken to a room and sat in a chair
behind a glass window while the visitor was on
the other side of the window. The visitor and
inmate talked to each other on a phone.
