Inmates

Interview with Kay

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Kay: No I didn't, I stuck to myself, I was going through depressio because of losing my daughter so I was in a room by myself forhe most part, but when I was with a roomate we got along.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Kay: None, There were no problems between the other inmates and myself. Other people would just choose a group of friends to hang with, but if a fight broke out in DCP, it happened, there was no stopping it, the guards didnt really care, it was an aweful place to be, and the staff fed off of it

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Kay: Yes I was, and to this day she is my best friend. She helped me through all of my depression. The counselor's would sometimes let you choose a cellmate to avoid problems and fights
