JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Zach: They had a day room with play cards and board games it also
had 2 tvs with cable or it was a very small area for you to
workout if u wanted other than that there was not much to do
to pass time other than going to sleep in your cell E: pushups/situps on the floor. dips on the sinks.
basketball in the gym or you could run. water bags
could be made when bags were obtained and ok guard
is on shift. also, you could put on sneakers and
fight in the bathroom---always nice to go to the
hole for rec.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Zach: It was always a race to get to tvs so most inmates just say and
talked or would rather to play cards to past time I choose to
work out with my time because the more work I did on my
body the more time was going by I try to stay away from TV
and games E: it's BET year there, you didn't know???
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Zach: Staying in shape in jail was rosier than staying in shape while
at home because you are so board that working out is an
outlet E: naw---food is small and terrible, so if you work
out order pork rinds (17 grams of protein for .80$-
-tuna has same amount and costs 2.65$)
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Zach: Outside rec was not really outside it is a small section that is
surrounded by the building it has the roof cut off that's as close
to outside as you get E: outside--never, i played basketball. the outer
yard is a concrete triangle.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Zach: They had several church services from catholic to Christian
and even Muslim services they had a choir and all to help
people out spiritually E: yes, thats where you can see ppl from other blocks
and get contraband passed...
