JM: Did you have regular access to telephones? Charles: Tuesday and Thursday. Rich: yes we had 2 15 minute phone times a day Kevin: Yes, in the Trustee Dorm you do. Molly: No, daily scheduled times for each cell. Jeremy: Yes Chad: you had a certain time twice a day for phone
calls. It was a different time every day, for 15
minutes Laura: only when i was let outside my cell
JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls? Charles: $1.60/minute Rich: we could only call collect Kevin: I could not call unless it was a Southern Belle
phone or unless they had an account with Paytell,
which the main person who I called set up one and
would pay online with a debit card. You can go to
www.paytell.com to set up an account and it gives
you the specific charges per call, etc. There are
also other calling plans that can be used and
officers will usually be helpful to the family and
friends of the inmate in finding this information out. Molly: collect calls or calling cards Jeremy: If the conversation was the alloted 15 minutes the
bill ran nearly 10 dollars a call Chad: The person being called must have an account set
up or a prepayed plan before you can call anyone Laura: It doesn't take long to use up one phone card. i woukd
