Medications

Interview with Tommy

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Tommy: Most medicine you were already prescribed was given to you every day. and you could get tylenol and ibuprofen off commissary.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Tommy: A guard and a nurse came around to the cells twice a day every day to give people what they needed. You had to have your cup of water ready, show the nurse your wristband, let her put the medicine in your hand, put the medicine in your mouth, drink the water, swallow, and then open your mouth and show the guard you actually took it. All in that order.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Tommy: I never personally witnessed anybody punished for abuse of drugs or even heard about it happening, so I honestly have no idea.
