Inmates

Interview with Raquel

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Raquel: At first I did but after a while I came to make friends, we exchanged stories about life, our cases, and the way our athority would take atvantage of us.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Raquel: Alot of things basically just keep your thoughts to yourself and dont complain about things you knew were wrong. But inmates would fight over everything like showering, tv channels, food, girls, commisary, and manners. Basically you need to keep to yourself so you have any problems with the inmates or officers.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Raquel: No One is able to choose their cellmates, they are chosen by the charges you have. The only time we got new cellmates was when new crimes were commited or if they broke probation, they left only if they pulled chain or were released.
