JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Carlos: Regular acces to phones was available, but its
the same with any jail, people are gonna bug for
you to get a three way phone call going or for
your people to call their people and get them a
message.
JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Carlos: I think that all Texas jails are run by a single
connect call source because the call is about 10
dollars for twenty minutes.
JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Carlos: No phone cards were needed to access phone.
JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Carlos: All jails in Texas I believe are screened. The
beginning of the phone call always has a
disclaimer that anything you say will be
recorded.
