8am to 11pm Kelly: I did have access to a payphone. Ken: A majority of the time you do, just depends on
where you are in the jail.
JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls? Karl: 2 dollars Lisa: area calling, charges varied by mileage Zach: well it is two dollars per call local. and about
twintyone dollars for out of state but the
average spent per week is about twinty dollars Kelly: it depends if you were calling local or out of
state out of state very expensive Jeff: I had an account set up that my family put time on
my phone for me and I think it averaged about two
dollars a call and I averaged about ten dollars a
week but a lot of people spent a lot more than that. Maurice: I would say about 200 or more on a week
bases on on on on on Jose: for a local call it was $1.85 plus tax so a total
of $2.04 but then non local were around $10 to $20 Kelly: I got to make one collect call to my son once a
week and my mom paid it on her phone bill. Other
people would use money off there commissary
account to make calls. I would say at least $10 a
week for people who had the money. Ken: At times I spent up to seventy bucks a week during
holidays. The calls range from five to fifteen
dollars, just depends on where you are calling and
in FCDC they are only fifteen minutes.

there provider so that you are allowed to call.
