Inmates

Interview with Patrick

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Patrick: There are always inmates that are hard to deal with because there are so many different personalites. People tend to stay with people who are most like themselves in one way or another.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Patrick: I spent alot of time reading and did not involve my self with the things that cause arguments like card games, gambling and loaning out of store items. I mostly hung out by myself except when the occasional person would come through that I either knew or could identify with.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Patrick: You dont really get to choose who is in the cell with you which is another frustrating aspect of jail life. In transit your cell mates changed quite a bit. Once you are in the permenant block They pretty much stayed the same until one or the other was released.
