Clothing

Interview with Kelsey

JM: What clothes could you have brought in to wear in the jail (underwear, socks, etc.)?
Kelsey: while in the tanks females were allowed one orange pair of shorts, one yellow t shirt, two pairs of underware, one bra and one pair of socks, one blue pair of shoes, and then a blue jumpsuit for when you went on visit or court.

JM: If you had a set uniform, what did it look like? Please be specific about each piece of clothing issued to you.
Kelsey: The uniform looked similair to spongebob squarepants.

JM: Were there any assigned clothes in high demand that an inmate should look for when getting clothing assigned?
Kelsey: The main thing was getting good socks that werent all stretched out and getting a good t shirt that didnt have any holes or stains. Clothing was assigned, you get what you get. You never got a choice. However you were allowed to choose if you wanted to turn your clothing in on clothing exchange day. If you already had a good set of clothes then you would for instance choose to keep your clothing and wash it yourself either in the shower or sink, rather than turn it in and exchange it.

JM: Was the clothing different between men and women?
Kelsey: Yes the clothing was different for men and women. Like I said the women have blue jumpsuits for general population and i beleive the mens general pop were orange.
