Good Behavior

Interview with Scott, Carrie, John and Sophie

JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior?
Scott: you could get a early release if you are eligable for a fed cap kick. otherwise you have to do two thirds time.
Carrie: I was released after 3 months on sheriffs parole ankle monitor program. I've been out of jail for 2 months and am not sure when I will have the monitor taken off. I may have to wear it for the remainder of my half time which would be a total of 5 months.
John: yes and while I was in the Kern county jail the cell doors were left open over night if no issues came up. I liked that because I felt like I was in a kennel when the doors were locked
Sophie: my sentence wasn't long enough to have any time taken off for good behavior... had good behavior credit of 45 days, but wasn't used

JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior?
Scott: for every two days you do you get one day free.
Carrie: for every actual day that you are incarcerated you receive credit for 2 days. provided you don't get in trouble for anything.
John: I am not sure I did not ask
Sophie: do not know as I have not been in jail except for this one time

JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior?
Scott: just do your own time a stay out of the politics. And dont try to some one your not.
Carrie: You need to avoid getting into any fights or arguments. you need to stay away from the drugs, and cigarettes. you need to return to your cell when ordered.
John: I was told to follow the rules and everything would be fine. If I was a trouble maker I would be there longer and get others in trouble.
Sophie: do not know as this was my only time in jail and no one explained anything about good behavior time... most of the inmates were being released on shorter sentences because of over crowding
