JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't. Lowell: No I always kept to myself pretty much. I would
just talk to a select few people. I also get
along with everyone pretty much on the outside so
wasn't hard in the inside. Ray: no i didn't i am very easy going and got along
with everyone. i made sure i got along and went
with the flow. i didnt need any reason to be
stuck in the box or not get good behavior time.
JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates? Lowell: I kept to myself. I didn't get into other inmates
problems wiht other inmates. I know if you get
involved then you get in trouble and can end up
doing more time. that is somethingI ddint' want.
I only talked to a few inmates that I thought I
could trust. Ray: if htey wanted to watch what htey wanted on tv i
let them. i also kept to myself and in my cell as
much as possible. i also only talke to a few
people so i had less chance of altercations. or i
woudl try not to get too close to any inmate or
tell them to much about my release date or
personal information.
JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change? Lowell: No I wasnt' able to choose who I wanted. I dont'
remember how often it changed but I don't think
it was as often for me as it was for other
inmates. Ray: No we couldn't choose. IT wasnt very often
especially if you got along with the person you
stayed with them for a while unless they were
sent home. So it just depended.
