Visitor Policy

Interview with Sparkie, Craig and Allison

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Sparkie: 4 days a week
Craig: A couple times a week.
Allison: I believe 4 times a week for 20 minutes each visits. Visits were short and went by quickly.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Sparkie: yes it took them 2 hours to see me for 20 min
Craig: From what people who visited me said, it wasn't that bad. My wife said it took about thirty minutes, another visitor said about ten minutes.
Allison: They told me it was not too bad, although sometimes weekends were tough due to volume. I think after one's initial visit the process was easier.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Sparkie: glass and you could hardly hear your visitor and they could hardly hear you
Craig: A room with about 15-20 windows with glass inbetween you and your visitor. It was a little hard to hear.
Allison: Little 1/2 stalls with thick glass between me and my family. Very close to other inmates and visitors and often very difficult to hear. There were little speakers (somewhat difficult to reach) and often clogged with wrapppers and garbage. often the area smeeled very baddly, making me naseous-people were vomiting next to me.
