Interview with Ryan and Kathryn

JM: How many different blocks were there?
Ryan: there was 4 blocks separated by security levels
Kathryn: there were 8 blocks, only one for women. There were 3 sections on our block, medical, intake and general population

JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they?
Ryan: the names were simply A block, B block, C block and D block
Kathryn: Our block was 2D, or 2MCU (medical)

JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks?
Ryan: The lowest security level was A block. B block was split between the medical ward and the protective custody inmates. C block was medium level security and D block was maximum security
Kathryn: Medical had women with medical issues, mostly psychological problems. Intake was setup for General Population, or inmates who could not get along with other inmates were housed in Intake. Intake and Medical Unit, you were locked in your cell most of the day.

JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks?
Ryan: I only spent time in the medical ward and in the minimum security ward. The medical ward was awful because you were on lock down in your cell for 20 hours everyday. you would be let out an hour at a time and to eat and that was it. Mininum security was much better, you only had to lock down at night
Kathryn: The nicest part was receiving commissary, the worst were being locked in your cell
