Clothing

Interview with Will

JM: What clothes could you have brought in to wear in the jail (underwear, socks, etc.)?
Will: You could have family bring white socks, boxers, and thermals. They just had to be white and no logos or colors or whatever. No clothing beyond that.

JM: If you had a set uniform, what did it look like? Please be specific about each piece of clothing issued to you.
Will: I was medium security status, so I had to wear a blue one piece jump suit. I was issued to typical "bobos," which are cheap piece of crap shoes that break apart with light wear. They are kind of like all orange chuck taylors with no laces or velcro, they just slip on and often fall off.

JM: Were there any assigned clothes in high demand that an inmate should look for when getting clothing assigned?
Will: People go crazy for the thermals, because the AC is always on high blast. Of course you need the basic white tees, boxers, and socks. In this jail you are issued shirts, boxers, and socks, and if they have thermals they give them to you as well (they had none when I came in). People often save up the clothing that they give to you in order to trade it for coffee or whatever.

JM: Was the clothing different between men and women?
Will: I didn't see many females, but it was pretty much the same kind of thing.
