JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Lindsay: None we hardly ever got to leave the dorm for anything the
library cart was about it and we had tv in dorm but that's it
and it made the time long and hard almost worse than prison
and the workers are so uncaring and very mean and hateful to
you Bryce: None except the law library and you
have a written request two weeks before
you go. They don't let you outside they
bring two or three carts of books about 1
am and u can only get two books they
come around about once per month if
we were lucky.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Lindsay: No only books and tv and never got to choose what to watch
that is why I read so much but didn't have a huge selectionto
choose from and we were allowed radio headsets and that
was lifesaver for tuning out the insanity and all the noise and
fussing among inmates Bryce: Entertainment? You have got to be
joking I guess people don't see the inside
of Houston county but really. They give
you nothing to do they make you leave
your cell about 8 am and cannot go back
in except during count. And the guards
will not let you back in it no matter what
u left.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Lindsay: Yes because hardly ever got to go outside so all the sitting put
weight on real quickand it was a struggle Bryce: No really, lots of pushups and jumping
jacks and walking stairs. Other than that
there is nothing that u can do to get in
shape.
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Lindsay: Maybe once a month to a little brick area and wasn't big
enough to do much we would walk around a little or just sit to
get fresh air Bryce: Never went outside not one time ..even
though we asked,pushups and walking
around the pod is about the only way to
do ant type of exercising. In there.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Lindsay: Yes they were held in your dorm and mostly ladies who had
been in jail before and didn't feel like church Bryce: Yes they do. I never went so I can't really
explain to you anything about the
service. They were held up front
somewhere.
