JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process: Lindsay: It was non existent I was in jai 3 monthsbefore trial and my
court appointed attorney only came once and had no
information and really acted like he couldn't care less and the
guards treat you like you have already been convicted of a
crime and it is a hopeless feeling Bryce: I went to my first appearance and got
assigned a public defender. I then went
in front of the judge and was read my
charges. I then entered my plea not
guilty. I then got told my court date and
time. I would not speak to or see the
public defender untilled the day if court
which is a load of crap.
JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested. Lindsay: No I was living in Louisiana and when my Id got ran I had a
warrant for Dothan so I spent a month waiting to be extradited
back and the trip took 13 hours and I had pneumonia on top
of that when I got to Houston county I was treated awful and
they wouldnt let me see a nurse or anything Bryce: I went to the state troopers office to
renew my drivers license. I was told that
I tried to alter it at some point in time. So
I spoke with a state trooper who told me
I had two choices say I did it or he would
send it off for review. A couple if days
later. I was told I had a warrant so I
turned myself in
JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall. Lindsay: It was very nerve racking and the attorney hadn't receved a
deal from the d a so I had to choose to wait on another court
day or take a blind plea which means you take what judge
feels like giving you ,so I took blind plea to keep from waiting
and I did all talking my attorney never even tried to help me Bryce: The Houston county court is rough.
Judges don't want to listen they just want
you to plead guilty. My attorney if u can
call him that said nothing to defend
me,in fact he looked intimated . So he
told me it would be in my best interstate
to just plead guilty so the judge wont be
able give me the Max.
JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of? Lindsay: Forgery and I was convicted on that received 6 years Bryce: Possession of a forged instrument 2nd
and that is what I convicted of.
