Meals

Interview with Mitch

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Mitch: We got 3 meals per day.

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Mitch: It was honestly the worst food I have ever been around. That was the worst part of jail. Hot food would be cold. Everything had the same taste to it. I lost 20 pounds in jail just because I couldn't make myself eat the food. The food was absolutely terrible.

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Mitch: The only thing that was enjoyable to eat was these chicken patties they would serve once a month. They were the only thing that actually tasted the way they should.

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Mitch: The only snacks were on commissary and it came once a week. We ordered over the phone even though the system was always messed up. Your order would be wrong a lot and you would be stuck paying for stuff you didn't want. Commissary was pretty expensive to me. Any type of snack food was at least a dollar.
