Medications

Interview with Brittany and Jordan

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Brittany: They did not give me the proper doses of metformin for my diabetes. They tried to give me zoloft one time and told me it was an allergy pill. I knew what zoloft looked like so I knew it was wrong. I tried to tell the doctor and I felt like my requests were ignored. I felt like medical care was horrible there. A lady I was with got too much high blood pressure medicine. The nurse told her to just take it, saying "it won't kill you".
Jordan: i dont take medicine or medication

JM: How did you get your medications?
Brittany: Nurse and medcart came around regularly. All those with meds lined up, nurse checked to make sure you took them. They don't do a very good job of checking because a lot of people were able to cheek their meds. Girls were trading them for extra oranges and stuff.d
Jordan: I dont need to take medication but seemed like most of the others in there was taking medication if they needed to

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Brittany: That I don't know because I never saw anybody get caught.
Jordan: I saw people get put in solitary for abuse of this and allso loss of working privledge and loss of tv time
