JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail? Tom: just to try to keep in touch with them on the
phone or through the mail. It is very helpful to
try to keep a little bit of money going to the
inmate because the jail supplies nothing besides
the legal amount of stuff the court says they have
to. This is like 2000 calories per day, toilet
paper, and soap. Thats all you get if you dont got
money. Jail is a messed up place but if you have
just a little bit of support it makes it a whole
lot more tolerable. Frank: Get to the visits early because the room can fill
up. Write as much as possible. Ashlee: That it's not as bad as they would think, coz
their loved one is making the best of it while
in there. It's like all inmates say "what goes
on in Sutter County Jails stays in Sutter County
Jail.
JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them? Tom: Stay away from gangs. I was a member of the
NUESTRA FAMILIA prison gang and I know first hand
that gangs are the biggest trouble in the whole
California jail and prison system gangs will get
you killed more time and are just plain stupid.
Stay as far away from gangs as possible. Frank: Dont be going for really bad sex crimes, and don't
be a wimp as much as you can, work out, read,
stick to yourself or couple people, and you should
be ok. Ashlee: Just do your time and get out and stay out of
trouble. Try and stay busy and keep yourself
occupied with reading a book or writing letters.
Or even take daily naps.
JM: Please list any other jail or rehab facilities you have been to. Ashlee: None.
