Medications

Interview with Mary

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Mary: Yes, you could get medications.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Mary: If an inmate needed to see the doctor to get medications, they had to pay for it. This payment would come out of their commissary money. Their family could also bring necessary medication to the jail.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Mary: Inmates were put in the "box." This was a single cell with no access to any entertainment or other inmates. I never saw anybody using drugs in the pod.
