Inmates

Interview with Chandra

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Chandra: No, I got along with them great. I'm a social butterfly and can talk to anybody.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Chandra: Keep to yourself. There are cliques in jail just like there are on the street. It's best to just keep to yourself. Don't give up too much information. Remember these people are not your friends.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Chandra: No. At Sumpter County there are no cells. 12 bunks, with 6 on bottom, 6 on top. Half the time all the beds weren't even full. Its like a big dorm room. There are 5 tables, 2 benches (all metal) to watch TV, a water fountain, 3 toilets and 2 showers. There is about a 4 ft privacy wall for the toilets.
