Inmates

Interview with Krystal

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Krystal: Yes some of the other inmates acted like they were in charge of everyone and tried to tell the new inmates what to do. Sometimes they would threaten to hurt you.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Krystal: Not talk to anyone and keep to myself. Try to stay away from all the other inmates and read a book just to not be a part of anything they wanted to talk about or any trouble they may have wanted to start with me or anyone else that was there.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Krystal: No the guards choose for you and my cellmate stayed the same. The guards would put you in whatever cells were empty at the time that you arrived in there.
