Leisure Time

Interview with Krystal

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Krystal: you could read books and also there was a television but you had to watch what other's wanted to watch because they didn't like to share the remote. You could also play cards and there was also games and puzzles there to do if you could get other's to do it with you.

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Krystal: competition was fierce for anything there. Other's would not include you or you would be off to yourself trying to find something to do because no one wanted to be around any new people that came there cause they would have their own little group of certain inmates that would do things together.

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Krystal: Yes the food added weight also couldn't go outside at all so there was no room to exercise in the cellblock.

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Krystal: we never went outside. For exercise they had a rec room with nothing in it and you could only just walk around in a circle.

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Krystal: No church services but you could talk to a priest there if you wanted to talk to someone about religion.
