Telephones

Interview with Tawnie

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Tawnie: They wold turn the phones on after the court trips were released to the holding cell usually around 8am and they would be shut off at 9pm. Also you had a 20 minute time limit on each call.

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Tawnie: You had to call collect

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Tawnie: No you just needed to call collect

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Tawnie: If they thought there might be something you might be doing that you shouldn't they could screen your calls.
