JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't. Allyson: The women are not really hard to get along with in
this jail. They help you when you're new and will
help you learn how things go in jail. When I went,
I didn't have nothing, and girls in the mod would
bring me treats and snacks. I had a great cell
mate that I learned a lot from. Eric: No I never had a problem with any inmate unless I
was first disrespected or challenged that is the
way it goes everybody gets tested at least once
in jail.
JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates? Allyson: Don't argue, don't fight. Keep from lashing out at
others, and you will be treated the same way. Eric: I stayed to myself. I did not associate myself
with anyone who was not immediate family. I kept
my routine strict and consistent. like I said
before I mainly stayed to myself I think that is
the best way for anyone to avoid getting in to
any type of confrontation.
JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change? Allyson: Once in a while you can choose who your cell mate
will be. When I was incarcerated at the beginning
I started off at a different mod, and I asked if I
could be in a cell with a different person. I got
to be with her for a couple weeks until I went to
the Programs Mod. Eric: Hell no I wish I could pick my cell mate but
that's the thing about being locked up all your
decision making is taken away and my cell mates
didn't change that often
